ECHA Committee for Risk Assessment Operational
The Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) met in Helsinki for the first time 29 – 31 January. The RAC plays a key role in formulating the opinion of the Agency in regard to:

  • Assessing the risk from a use(s) of a substance to human health and/or the environment arising from those uses for which authorisation is being sought.

  • Evaluating as to whether the restrictions suggested by a Member State or the European Chemicals Agency for a substance are appropriately reducing the risk to human health and/or the environment

  • Evaluating proposals from Member States for harmonised classification and labelling of a substance as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction category 1, 2 or 3, or as a respiratory sensitiser, or also for other effects on a case-by-case basis
